Our “Supporting and Enhancing Common Humanistic Values and Basic Sufficiencies to Refugees on the way of Becoming Global Citizen” project aims to provide permanent, feasible and improvable solutions to the problems faced by the institutions and organizations providing social and cultural services in cities where refugee populations live intensively for the last 8 years. For this reason, it is aimed to take the institutions, organization officials and refugees who are both the interlocutors of the problem as the solution itself which has not been applied before. In this respect, data related to problems will be collected with institution (Municipalities, schools, hospitals, immigration administration, etc.) which provide social and cultural services and will take place in a wide range and also by communicating with their officials. The encountered problems at the point of usage of given services and presented resources will be determined through this project by visiting the institutions and organizations which located in Gaziantep city and this information will be kept as dataset. The expectations of the institutions and organizations will be reflected to refugees as training programs in different fields within the framework of the identified problems. After these trainings, the refugees will be able to understand the society they live in, gain the awareness of belonging, increase the sense of belonging and develop a common way of living with people from different cultures. The data collected from this aspect will provide an important basis for our Training Module (IO2), preparing a methodological framework programme (IO3), public awareness campaigns (IO4) Webinar (IO5) education.
The aim of the „Supporting and Enhancing Common Humanistic Values and Basic Sufficiencies to Refugees on the way of Becoming Global Citizen” project‘s training module that we will develop is to provide the contribution of refugees to the solution, of the existing and increasingly potential problem, to establish social peace, to provide the conscious use of material and moral resources and common areas, to gain awareness of belonging to refugees and to gain the vision of world citizenship, to meet the demanded training needs of organizations, to invest in human beings and to realize this investment by means of education, to gain a permanent, feasible, improvable and sustainable approach to the matter of immigration which is an issue of humanity. As a result of this training module; – Refugees and institutions, – Refugees and social areas, – at the level of the relationship between refugees and resources that are common property of humanity “awareness and awakening” will be provided. -There will also be a high level of synergy and interaction as the training module is an in-class interactive activity and the participants will be selected individuals from the target mass.
There are different initiatives that may be incomplete in practice in order to increase the cooperation with in particular, universities and municipalities, the institutions and organizations directly working with the refugees and working for them. For example, a municipality can sign a cooperation protocol with a university, but in practice, sharing the process at the academic level of the institution makes the process more sustainable. For this reason, the most innovative aspect of this intellectual output is the sustainability of inter-institutional cooperation and being in cooperation about the method. Because the most effective way to reach refugees is to attract the attention of refugees groups with a different tool instead of directly performing only project activities. The subject of the „Supporting and Enhancing Common Humanistic Values and Basic Sufficiencies to Refugees on the way of Becoming Global Citizen” project is also appropriate for this tool. We also identified this tool by consulting with our project partners and stakeholders working with refugees and listening to their expectations. With the campaign, an environment has also been created in which refugees could feel collective and secure, form a social environment and integrate.
The first pilot implementation of the training module will be carried out by our „Supporting and Enhancing Common Humanistic Values and Basic Sufficiencies to Refugees on the way of Becoming Global Citizen” project team on focus groups. However, there is a need for a trainer training to make this module sustainable and expandable. Although these trainings can be done face-to-face locally, this is not possible in other cities and other countries facing refugee problem. At this point, unlike other projects and practices, we did not want to be limited to the implementation of the training module only in partner countries and provinces. Because, what is significant is not remaining limited to the dissemination of educational module and intellectual outputs of methodological framework by the web site and institutions (for example, as a module for continuing education centers). We wanted to determine a current tool that will provide guidance for all institutions and organizations that want to apply this one-to-one module and framework approach. We will prepare a training program through via webinars to reach the final beneficiaries as if they are doing one-to-one and face-to-face. Thus, institutions will have an easy, accessible and transferable method to disseminate intellectual outputs. In addition, webinar training content will be an exemplary approach that it is preferred and used in our project due to the material and environmentally friendly aspects of the project.
The project is funded by Erasmus+ programme.
