Erasmus Talks: Meda

If you had to describe your Erasmus+ experience in three words, what would they be?
Self-realization, calmness, connection.

What was your daily routine during the program? How did it differ from your regular life at home?
Usually getting up was around 7-8 am, followed by sincere conversations with others during breakfast, walking in the fresh air regardless of the weather, and reading books instead of scrolling. My routine during the program was different in a way that I spent a lot of time talking to others, listening to their life stories, and engaging in activities that truly brought me joy.

Share one of the funniest, most memorable, or unexpected adventures you experienced while participating in an Erasmus+ project.
I met a girl in the Poland project who lives in Romania. After a while, I filled out an application for a project in the Czech Republic, which was happening a few months later. I shared this in my “close friends” Instagram story and asked if anyone would want to meet up during those days since I had friends in the Czech Republic. Well, the same girl I met in Poland replied to my story saying she would also be in the Czech Republic during those days and asked if it was the same project. I sent her a screenshot of the project, and it turned out it was indeed the same one. We both applied without knowing we would meet there.

What was the biggest personal growth you felt after this experience?
I understood the importance of communication, how crucial it is to find people with whom you feel yourself, with whom you can share things, and not care about what they think of you. It became much easier to open up to others, share sensitive events from my life, and I also became more tolerant, confident in myself and my abilities.

What message would you like to share with those who are considering participating in the Erasmus+ program but haven’t taken the leap yet?
I know and fully understand how difficult it is to take that first step, to step out of your comfort zone, how fear affects us and sometimes even breaks us. However, I suggest making friends with your fears, because they are a normal part of human life! It seems to me that it’s really not as scary as it seems, because at least in my case, once I started traveling through Erasmus projects, I couldn’t stop.
