On November 11, in Marijampole, the second event of the Smart Democracy project took place and the debate method was successfully tested with Lithuanian youth once again. This event was attended by more than 10 brave people who decided to try the debate. During it, students learned to think independently by debating, justifying their opinions and arguing their decisions. Tried to listen to those who think otherwise, supporting a different position. Freedom debates – a new initiative that encourages the involvement of local communities and schoolchildren in the examination of the most pressing social, economic, political and ethnic problems. Critical thinking, decision-making, searching for arguments – skills that are needed not only at school but also at an older age, when getting involved in solving community and social problems. We are happy to present a tool developed by the Smart Democracy project for young people.
