Gabija writes us a review about the impressions of the project that took place on December 13-21, in Bakuriani, Georgia.
Our team’s journey started with a canceled flight. We were supposed to leave on December 12, but after the flight was canceled, we were hesitant to go to the project at all. However, with the great help of the project organizer, we bought bus tickets to Warsaw and flew from Warsaw to Kutaisi. So, on December 13, we were already in a cozy mountain town, Bakuriani.
The theme of the project revolved around how to be more environmentally friendly: we analyzed the problems in our countries, offered our ideas on how to solve ecological problems and learned how we personally can start a more sustainable lifestyle ourselves. We also had a session where we created decorations from waste. The most fun day of the project was a trip to Rabati Castle and Borjomi town. We were surrounded by beautiful mountain scenery all the way to the castle, and in Borjomi town we had the chance to taste Borjomi water flowing from the tap! Finally, we were “rewarded” with a traditional Georgian dinner – kachhapuris, Georgian wine and we admired traditional dances. The best part of this project is the people you meet. We made new friends from Portugal, Germany, Armenia, Georgia and Ukraine. It was fun to discuss with young Europeans both important ecological topics and everyday life in their countries.
Overall, the project was a wonderful end to 2022. We gained new knowledge about ecology and made new friends, we returned to Lithuania to celebrate Christmas and New Year. Since I was in the last project exactly 3 years ago, it brought back many beautiful memories for me and reminded me how many great opportunities we – the youth – have these days.
